Its very annoying when you want to do something nice for someone you care about. But your bank account says 'nope, not yet. Maybe in a couple of days'.

I saw a good tweet on this subject - https://twitter.com/_Dadvice_/status/1134525898403659776 … Not just kids - but people don't need things that cost money.

True, but then you also have to look at the definition of 'need' Sometimes that permanent item is something that can be used when times are low to be looked at said 'hey, that person cares because they got this for me'.

oh - I understand but don't feel bad, or less because you can't "buy the thing" Being there, supporting, caring, talking, listening, are all more valuable in the long run. And if you can "buy the thing" some time.. sure -

O, I don't. when I say annoying it's like that itch that I can't quite scratch right now because I have a cat on my lap. The interesting thing is that when 'having to wait' happens it keeps me from making knee jerk buys that I end up regretting later (not in this case)

also good counsel. I often "window shop" on Amazon.. put stuff in the cart, then close the browser.. when I go back later.. if I still want it - I "save for later" checking back again - still want it? move it to a list. Still later - still want/need it? then maybe it's ok.

I do that all the time. then I end up moving some of it either to a list or to the 'buy later'. Probably have saved 1000's of dollars just by doing that.
