move to Bay Area = EXPENSIVE
Didn't @oliviadgrace @perculia relocate from EU?
But I'd LOVE to see you make this move if it's what you want to do.

I'm from NYC and relocated to LA (which is expensive in weird ways, but less so than the Bay Area). Olivia did relocate to the Bay Area though for her latest job! I miss her.

I moved to the bay area, can confirm it's obscenely expensive. Would not ever recommend anyone move from the UK to the US ever without a very good reason and a well paid, secure job.

And to be more specific on how expensive the bay area is, and on what I mean by a well paying job, if you make less than $117k here, you're officially low-income. I'm lucky to be paid well above that, but yeah. It's expensive. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44725026 …

Without wishing to be unkind that's below the bread-line here. You could do it if you had subsidised housing and free health care, by which I mean your employer covers most of the cost. There is NO NHS or anything here. You get sick and can't pay, go into massive debt or die.

Got to echo this. I deal with the valley, and while have not lived there in sometime, you might need to look at 55000 more than the mentioned amount there, to even get your feet of the ground. I have startup colleagues, earning 2x that have ended up on the streets due to medi.
