We've gotten dozens of unique mounts in BfA. Crawgs, scythemaws, parrots, a riverbeast, hyenas, a brutosaur, frogs, the new mounts in BoD, etc. On top of 11 ie mounts. And there is a tonne of in game content to do, I have actual spreadsheets and lists bc there is so much to do.

How is this so different from 'find a vendor in a cave and buy it with gold'? Aka the toad mount. IMO that would be a better way to do it.

The frog mounts are even more expensive and I never saw any complaining about them - 333 333g vs 230k gold. Also some people like to buy mounts with real money (myself included) since I can make more IRL in one hour than I can in game. Giving people options isn't a bad thing.

See, im more of an advocate to place items like this behind events in game. Rather than gold sinks or rl cash rewards.

Some people have gold and want to spend it on things, so why not let them? Working hard to farm 5 million gold and buy a brutosaur was one of the biggest accomplishments I have ever had in game. It's just another thing to work towards, like anything else in game.

Games in general are all becoming polarised for financial reasons. Divided into time-rich players (gold makers!) and dollar-rich players (token buyers). As employment worldwide becomes more automated and tech based, that divide is only going to widen. (Contd)

There's literally nothing Warcraft can do. Adapt or die. Because who is going to pay a £50/month sub

Plus, the coming generation is used to Freemium and P2W models. Subs is something they don’t do.

There is also a growing distaste from the playerbase about games that are full price, includes a sub and also include micro transaction stores. Freemium is tolerated because the games are usually free to play technically.

That’s also why we’re likely to never see another WoW, but only base+dlc games, or freemium
