There’s no such thing as screwing someone on an open AH price. If they have the gold and deem it worthy of their work to earn the gold, they’ll buy it. If you’re altruistic about saving people gold, advertise in trade and don’t even post on the AH. 2 birds, one stone.

This "manipulation" is also known as market support. It means that sellers get a fair price. The price paid, btw, is set by the buyers, especially for high value items.

It doesn't prevent. It allows you to also undercut me. You can't just post on the AH and expect to get a sale, the same doesn't belong to you, it doesn't belong to me, the buyer controls it. If I post at half your price that gives you the same opportunity as if I

As if I post 1c under you. Either way, I'm under you. The higher I can get, the better your opportunity and mine, to get a good price. Neither of us get this if the value of [item] gets halved. Finally please also remember

That a rich seller is a rich buyer. Gold must circulate, it doesn't belong to anyone, it needs to be given and spent given and spent, and devaluing items means less circulation, less opportunity for all and in the end, stagnation and recession. The best scenario is low inflation

I think your worry might be 1) ownership of a sale. That's exclusionary behaviour 2) once an item sells, the gold and item disappear. Not always. item is used, increases ilvl, power, or is used to craft. Gold is spent, if I have gold from a good sale, I can buy things from you
