There’s no such thing as screwing someone on an open AH price. If they have the gold and deem it worthy of their work to earn the gold, they’ll buy it. If you’re altruistic about saving people gold, advertise in trade and don’t even post on the AH. 2 birds, one stone.
It's competitive, yes, because there's more than one player in the game. One copper is honourable, honorary your ability to be equally competitive. Deep undercuts are a dick move designed to crash the market, and worse, give that person less gold, and less ability to buy from u

All buyers care about is who is cheapest. And not even who, because the player selling doesn’t matter. They just generally buy the cheapest one. The savings doesn’t matter. It is not intended to be predatory when sellers do 1 copper undercuts. Think of us as in this together.

It just boils down to who gets to stand at the front of the line for sales. That’s it. Knocking 10k off from a 100k item hurts you both. Yours might sell a tiny tiny bit faster, but likely not as fast as it takes for the other seller to undercut you. Then that 10k is lost to all.

Your “respond in kind” to seemingly predatory undercuts (which they aren’t btw) is the best example of shooting yourself in the foot there is. If you want to “help” buyers, post your amazing deals in trade chat. You’ll seem like an even better deal too if the AH isn’t crashed.

Not controlled but there are some collective decisions and these are usually taken by the buyers not sellers.

*or* to trick people into selling below market value similar to wallers, so that they can buy up cheap then raise the market..
