Mainly the ammo...

I think we may have differing idea of implementation - I'm thinking once a permanent settlement is established, water and food are sourced, and a population is accounted for, cottage industries will be viable.
-
I don't disagree with this point... rebuilding will require a lot of resources... currently primers are made in very few locations, which is not good for decentralized successes in rebuilding industry.
-
It'd be a challenge, no dobut. I'm geeked out enough with the idea I'd love to be in a situation where I need to do it. A whole world based in DIY cottage industry would just be amazing to see. No regulations, no OSHA, just a fear of death driving productivity.

Agreed.... I'm focusing on living long enough to have the fortune to see it.

Amen to that. If you ever need an 'ideas' guy when the collapse comes, I'm happy to join :)

I expect electrical grid failure, internet black out, cellular blackout, and massive disinformation the second it looks like the US is on the verge of going over the precipice. Interstate closures, curfews, martial law, civil unrest, bank holidays, followed by EMPs, then zombies.
-
Once things settle down to zombies expect me to work my way towards you. Radio stations and broadcast equipment are going to be worth their weight in gold. Surviving the intial bump will be the hard part. Past that, survival is more skill/preparedness based and less chance.
-
I see it it as gradually getting worse and worse, until the destructive tempo is so bad you look up and realize most of the people you know didn't survive... the remaining survivors will battle for control over resources like a road warrior version of musical chairs.

enough for a camp, even? I don't doubt it, but having the capacity to make ammo seems as important as capacity to make power. I'd look for chemists and scoop em up. Inside every chemist is all the explosive making knowledge you'll need.
