You don't use nukes in a civil war. That's lunacy.

Aww, come on. It's just a more fun version of the game Operation!

For humor's sake, sure, but the key to survival is not to take unnecessary risks... especiall when one could simply prepare a much safer mitigation strategy ahead of time.

When folks say they can make ammo out of just about anything post-collapse, it makes me wonder why people don't do that now? Reason is, its usually so difficult, or time-intensive, it isn't worth it in a time-constrained world. Why would it be any different post collapse?
-
Not making that claim, nor saying it would be any different. I imagine it'd be more difficult post collapse. I think it's worth exploring any methods that might work (within reason) though. Is it possible to to make primers out of .22, let alone safely? I don't know. Hence the q.

I imagine it is possible (not safely), but wouldn't it require different gear to put them in the cases? I'm not trying to put any of this on you, the claim is common and yet, usually very short-sighted. Putting back a stockpile of primers is a much better option, is my point.
-
I completely agree with you. It's def. impractical when you could stockpile primers instead. The more I read about it, the dumber it seems. For one, apparently .22 primer contains ground glass which (clearly) wouldn't be a good thing to shoot through your firearm.
-
Some manufacturing processes are only efficient in an economy of scale. I believe primers and powder, are at least two of them... solar panels are pennies on the dolar to what they will be worth post collapse, for the very same reason.

Post collapse steam engine generators are going to make a huge comeback.
