I've donated a few times this past year on http://www.feedingamerica.org . You can click through and find food banks near you, and donate to them specifically.

I feel like the rule is 1) give them money, and 2) donate food you’ve already purchased that is something a person would actually want to eat.

I volunteer at a food bank. We’re usually well stocked with green beans and corn.
Toiletries and hygiene products are always welcome. Call ahead to where you donate, they’d love to answer questions.
Thank You All and stay safe!

Many direct mutual aid workers have similar community relationships. Food banks also have more overhead than mutual aid workers as well, so that is something to consider in efficiency. Food banks are good as long as they don’t have barriers to services.
