So what you’re suggesting is basically... the fibbers were on both sides? Well I’ll be damned.

Indeed, from the very same camp that denied any notion of an EU army existed. We were paranoid liars to even suggest such, & now it is regular discussion matter. Down with the lot of them. Fanatics, apologists for capitalism expansionism/neo-imperialism.
-
They also deny the existence for what has been termed ' schengen for armies ', which gives any eu country the right to place it's military on the streets of another eu country without prior permission or invitation. This should frighten the hell out of anybody sane! Their reply
-
is always the same. We aren't part of schengen, they can't separate that from the fact that schengen for armies does not work only on those countries in the civilian schengen zone but across all countries. No veto can be used either.
-
Effectively, this would mean that the next time germany wants to invade poland, they can do so legally! If people don't have a problem with even the very thought of such a thing there is something deeply wrong with them.
-
Germany has already inaved Poland politically & economically. Don't let us pretend that hasn't happened. Greece has been brought down to levels Hitler never achieved. What next? An EU Army on Russian borders anyone?

They could have just said the truth instead. i.e. 'the US is an unreliable ally at best so we need our own army to protect ourselves if they decide to withdraw support'
-
Instead they stood on national TV calling it a fantasy and backtracking on the matter every step of the way. Personally, as a lefty, I’m inherently uncomfortable with statist type militarisation.
-
Isn’t the truth more along the lines of “we couldn’t be arsed to pay into NATO, but that’s ok ‘cos the Yanks would bail us out, now they’re not so interested & we’re a bit scared of Vladimir so now we’re fucked”

-
NATO will survive. Too much tension for it not to.

Nope. I've listened to this entire sequence from my Remain-voting friends. They started off by telling me that I was paranoid and delusional, now they think they need an EU army to protect them from the fucking Russians.
-
I’m a remain voter. Was always highly eurosceptic. On reflection I think I went the wrong way. But I don’t think this comes from all remainers. Merely the EUtopian types who, usually, want to force everyone else to remain in the form of a 2nd referendum.
-
Are the Russians a threat? I don't think so, it's all propaganda.
-
They seem to be watching too much CNN or something. It's weird.

the EU army is an absolute necessity ... to crack the skulls of anyone who dares to try and leave the evil superstate .. or attempts to self determine their future . the 'threat' from Russia is just a smokescreen to achieve this .
