Maybe not as overtly realistic as they are nowadays, but you can still see the clear foundations of his mastery over light and shadow, his usage of transparent glazes to create depth, his love of dynamic perspectives and compositions coupled with wonderfully smooth shading.

Murata might be one of the most skilled comic artists of all-time. His Marvel illustrations show he'd be a real force to be reckoned with on the Western stage. His OPM "animation" spreads were also incredible, I'm disappointed they were pulled from the tankobon.pic.twitter.com/Adm6RIumJd

I've never seen that OPM art before, and realizing the オオオオオ laser beam fx rotated with the viewer's angle was hilarious. This is such good dynamism, I could rewatch this forever.
