Last night, March 1st, per Don's upload details. I was a mite unclear upthread; sorry about that. This is my life as I move through the book: a chapter read, followed by a deep dive into Don's YT trove. A perfect complement.

That is the right way to read it, with Don by your side. And thanks for the info, ill have to rematch in celebration.

Like playing records enhances great musical exegeses, the clips've extended the length of time I get to spend with the book. Makes Last Giant feel like an 800-page brick (which I [secretly] wish it was!). And on threading DL's love of language through the narrative: YES. KUDOS!

I rode that slow train, like my friend & fellow Torontonian, last yr with the book, Jay-Zi. Truly the Letterman book I wanted. Focused on the peaks, w/o ignoring the valleys (and the flatlands). Then I'd run to Don's channel. Better than the early 90s Canadian repeats of 1982-

So glad to hear. In a funny way, I rode this train too, since before starting, I just spent months watching episode after episode after episode, day after day. Fun way to recall history, seeing topical 80s and 90s joke premises.

Historical topicality, but also (I'm still workin' this out in my head; you've got it in LG) a specific tenor to DL's irony: CBS's DL clips get loads of YT abuse from millennials who've rejected irony for broad, 21st-century earnestness. Don's (underwatched) clips've been spared.

I get YT comments from folks in Autralia and New Zealand whose Dave exposure began with LS in the mid-aughts. They'd been unaware of Dave's LN era, and for them it's a revelation.
