A few weeks ago I was chatting with [name drop!] Steve O'Donnell, and for some reason he brought up Pete Fatovich and how sorry he was that when Pete died a few days after the final LS, he didn't get an on-air send-off. (1)

I never noticed that. I had no idea he hadn't gotten a send off. Interesting seeing as Pete was so prominent back then.
Dave gave him a nice retirement farewell on December 23, 1993. But Pete returned for countless bits, up to 2014. I think what Steve meant was an on-air eulogy from Dave, which could not have happened due to the timeline — LS had ended.

Ah okay, that makes more sense now. I'm sure the same could have been applied to his mother if it had happened while he was on air.

Exactly. Though a video had been prepared for Mom that never aired but had been revised for air with some alternate videos and a peppier soundtrack shortly before LS ended. I included the original, unaired version at the end of my “Obituary” comp.
