Hahaha love this, and a testament to just how many Alan Kalter punch-outs we did -- but yeah, the freak-out piece was Alan in a sailor suit and his sketch got cut for time, and he sulks off and we follow him and he descends into madness...

So you remember the (unaired) one we shot where he is an unflattering answer in the nyt crossword, then asks dave who the editor was, then looks up will shortz address, then goes to will shortz apartment and he’s not home so waits w his family for hours before punching him out?

and the whole piece was maybe a 4 minutes long and interminable setup to a punchline that everyone knew was coming from the jump and dave took one look at the tape and said basically “nope this is too far even for me and i invented too far”
