1/During the warmup for a taping of Late Show during Letterman’s final season, I was called on and asked Dave if Alan Kalter was as creepy in person as he seemed on TV. Dave had a hilarious answer, and I even got a microsecond of screen time from it (see clip below).

2/ The coolest part was we ran into Kalter walking down 9th Avenue the next afternoon. When I asked if I could get a photo, he cocked one eyebrow in jest and said “Creepy, huh?” We had a laugh and a brief conversation, and he graciously took photos with both of us. Nice guy.
