My Norm Macdonald story: On May 12, 2015, I received a note from someone requesting that I contact Norm regarding help he was seeking. I was given his contact info, so I emailed him and asked what he was looking for. He wrote back:

But no matter; just conversing with Norm was a privilege. And after I uploaded all of his Dave appearances in a five-part compilation, he followed me on the Twitter. What a talent. (/end)

I worked at a local Video Music Channel operation in Atlanta. In '83 Diddly came in to plug a concert. After the interview we asked him to tape a "You're watching..." promo for us. Saddened to realize he could not read the cue cards we'd written up. He then winged it and did OK.

I'm guessing he was, sadly, illiterate at the time. Looking at that cold open and can surmise it likely took multiple takes. He isn't looking off screen for cue card guidance.
