Processing the final Part 4. The bluegrass performances start in 2001 with “Foggy Mountain Breakdown,” featuring Earl Scruggs. But as the years roll on, the music becomes more personal, more magical. It’s quite the transformation.

First, the players are unbelievable. Fast, precise, no showboating, all fulfilling a role. Second, the music just seems more spiritual, some composed by Steve. The last few add some cellos, which brings to the songs a fullness. It’s tough to articulate.
