I spent the summers in the mid-‘90s in the Columbia U. Library microfilm room leafing through years of Village Voices (c 1962-‘78), jotting down club dates to input into my NYC Clubs database. (‘78 on from the purchased newsstand issues.)

The most fun was finding specific dates, where, for example, Larry Coryell played in Gary Burton's quartet, and discovering how Jeremy & the Satyrs came out of Tim Hardin's backup band.

Years ago Will Lee FB-messaged me. He was being interviewed on the phone re The Bottom Line, and he asked me when did he first play there? A few clicks and: May 7, 1974, backing up Barry Manilow. The club had opened 3 months earlier. That's when it pays off.

That’s some incredible research you’ve done. If you could find someone able to port this database to the web would you be interested in making it publicly available?

It'd first have to be severely edited. Also, there are cells with notes ranging from a few words to several paragraphs. No way it could simply be transferred as is.
