Yep, but Max didn't write the Late Night with Conan theme - it was Howard Shore (who wrote the SNL theme and many film scores) and John Lurie. Maybe

I’ve never heard that story but I know Howard was there at the conception of Jake & Elwood, as SNL’s musical director at the time. I do remember that first BB performance - 4/22/78 - Paul, you were playing Don Kirschner so Cheryl had to play piano on Hey Bartender!
