A shame, BTW you're the one who'd know this but how did Dave generally do in hosting the Tonight Show? Did he stick to Carson's style or did he bring his own irreverence to it?
I don't have the first year, so impossible to say for during that period. But I'd say half and half.

Cool, thanks for that. It's a crying shame Letterman didn't get the Tonight Show gig in the '90s. I think he'd have done a tremendous job at it.
