Thanks to Maxell, TDK, Sony, and lots and lots of other like-minded videotape fanatics.

Loved TDK High Grade tape. Maxell 2nd. Don, when did you start recording Dave with a dvd recorder? I got my first Panasonic in 2003. No hard drive. Next one was with a hard drive and was so much easier to edit and dub.

Recording direct to DVD? Never. From mid-Feb. 1985 to May 2015 it was VHS throughout. I’ve since acquired 65% of high-quality LS DVDs (not counting the WPI-watermarked shows) and 25% of high-q LN DVDs.

I never played them back until digitizing to DVDs decades and decades later. So the quality depended mostly on the cable reception and health of the VCRs. This was a long-term strategy, waiting for the technology to arrive.
