Ok; it began in a Who Asked For It from May ‘82. Asked what was on the CBS Late Movie, Dave looked it up: “Alice,” then “McCloud.” Picked up in March ‘85, running rant on tv shows tagged as CBS Late Movie. Then, Aug. ‘85, title became CBS Late Night...
...prompting Dave to call a CBS representative in California. Then returned briefly in Feb. ‘86.

Thanks for reminding me, as this fell through the cracks. Just checked: August 1985, it was changed from "CBS Late Movie" to "CBS Late Night," prompting Dave to call a CBS representative in California to no avail. More references the name 6 months later.
