In the December 26, 1981, "Open All Night" episode that @Merrillmarkoe wrote and Dave cameo'd, there's a character named Larry "Bud" Hoffmeister.
And in the Spring '81 HBO video "Looking for Fun," Merrill credits herself as "Helen Melman."
