Wow. Given those airdates, kudos to the Chi-Tri editor for choosing a then one-off photo with the person who would become perhaps DL’s most iconic foil. (Does the guy also write for The Simpsons, or what?) You’ve seen prehistoric Dave & Teris, then! Was their chemistry abloom?
I’ll need to watch them again, but I remember that they had this “why am I, a budding film star, lowering myself with this upstart Carson-succeeding wannabe?” And Dave putting a check on possibly offending her further.

I think they grew more comfortable with each other after a few LN interactions. It was his show then, and not Johnny’s, so she couldn’t play that card again.

Ha! Was the unspoken-but-evident tiers-of-stardom dichotomy rendered with a wink? (If so, it’s almost like she mapped it out and he played along [which is probably how a lot of the terrific star-host pairings develop, all the way through Kristen Bell-Craig Ferguson].)
