A few months ago I actually set up a database to catalog every VM and CBS Mailbag for just this purpose. Got as far as finishing the morning show, then inertia took hold.

It's like working as a record store clerk and dealing with people who come in and say "Do you have the CD with the song that goes 'laaa-la-lee-la-ll oo-lal la'? I heard it on the NPR station last month, missed the name."

There's a 70s book by Gil Fates, the producer of "What's My Line?" which ran 18 years with 800 some episodes. The Goodson-Todman archive deals with a steady stream of the grandchildren and great grandchildren of civilians who were on the show, wanting custom made excerpts.
