Easy. He wanted the insurrection to spiral out of control so he could then declare martial (or, as the Magats prefer, “Marshall”) law, then suspend all election verification activities. And it backfired spectacularly.

yeah, that would not have happened even if it spiraled out of control. The US Military Command would not have abided by such an order because its intent would have been understood by everyone..what that would have guaranteed was 25th amendment fast tracked
