Wait. Is it like a known thing that the guy who plays Dean Fay in "The Commitments" was in David Letterman's band for a good chunk of the 1990s? Like, not as a guest or anything, but a part of Paul & the crew for like 250 episodes?

So I see him -- i think, Youtube and SD being what it is -- in some old videos from that era. He's lost that goofy mullet from The Commitments, but pretty sure that's him on sax!
Dean Fay was portrayed by Felim Gormley. He was never, ever a part of the CBS Orchestra. I haven’t a clue why he’s listed in IMDB as part of LS’s “Music Department,” 1993-97. Likely a huge error.

He never, ever, played saxophone on Late Show. Bruce Kapler was the band’s saxophonist from November 1993 until February 2012.
