Per a friend’s suggestion, I replied to YT’s copyright notice: “The issue isn’t about my not having the necessary rights to post the content on YouTube. The issue is that CBS does not own the rights to the content I uploaded, and thus the takedown was issued in error.”

I had a channel sunk by this very same thing. Even when the claimant isn't the copyright holder, it's tough to fight if you can't establish ownership or authorization. Especially when the claimant is a big shot. Bar for YT passing on counter notices can be higher.
I’m depending on Worldwide Pants to get in on this. If they don’t, there’s nothing further I can do. I hate this. I could come to terms with last Fall’s channel fate (and re-life thanks to Carson). That was my doing. But what’s going on now is just bogus.

WWP owes you an immense debt of gratitude for what you've done to keep Letterman relevant. Leaving aside that it's plainly the right thing to do, they should intervene here if only out of their own self-interest.
