But then on September 5, Dave got tongue-tied when introducing the segment: "Today is -- uh -- Viewer Day -- Mail Day -- uh --Viewer Mail Day is what it is." And thus was the phrase "Viewer Mail" born, lasting to the end of LN 13 years later. (3)

When they did viewer mail on the morning show, if I remember right, they showed the letters 60 Minutes style. Was it that way from the beginning? Not sure if that continued to the early days of Late Night.
