And I always assume that everyone knows as much about this silliness as I do (as they should), but I keep on doing primers. Mostly likely the bubble I live in, while others pursue actual lives.

Damnit, your explanation’s plausible. A LOT of seminal culture gets mushed into a pre-internet cauldron for the under-40 set, where Sinatra and Mr. T are practically contemporaries because they both hung with Nancy Reagan. Ironic, b/c it’s the over-40s who WILL read the primers.
