A YT comment re my Andy Kaufman collection: "Oh wow I watched 'man on the moon' like 3 times now and never knew it was about a real guy that is so cool"

I went to a LN taping and Andy was hanging by stage doors in cervical collar. I kept waiting for "something" to happen but he just stayed/watched. Had to have been after Lawler appearance.

I know I was there for 6/10/82, but that was before Lawler/Andy appearance per your videos. Possible it was that night, can't remember the next time after that I went. Wouldn't have gone again so soon after 6/10.

Guests that night were Allen Ginsberg, Arline Thomas (bird lady of Queens, of course), and Bud Greenspan.

Yes! That one I remember very well. Found my tickets, next visits would have been 3/2/83 (Edwin Newman) and 7/3/84 (epguides has no listing - maybe a pretape?). So possibly it was 3/2/83. Long time for him in the collar though.

Unlikely -- Andy's next appearance after 7/28 Lawler was November 17, 1982. No collar. The Kaufman/Lawler match was April 5 '82. So June 10 fits right in. 7/3/84 taping aired 7/20: Huey Lewis, Fred Caposella, Jimmy Aleck.

...also found ticket for test show 1/20/82, I remember that because of meeting Harry Shearer & Paul after taping. Also a bowling fashion show, no close & announcer Howard Taylor, not Bill Wendell. Slight different set too - wood chairs.

I meant to ask — how did you find out about the test show, and how’d you get the ticket?

Was working for a cable http://co.in NJ, heard about debut, called NBC, they sent press kit & mentioned shows. Called guest relations/got tix. It says "preview" - I'll get a pic of it for you later. Have others too,1st http://morn.show ep but didn't go.

Collected TV tickets from 1st leftover one seeing a show in '70s. Neat souvenirs. Most are shows I didn't see in person though. You now have me revisiting my few posts to AFL back when, including re: test show :) https://tinyurl.com/sfsh79m

Jeebus -- this was before I had heard about afl. I may not have been able to access it (aol) then. Finally was able sometime in maybe mid-'94.
