I forgot to mention that WBZ is in Boston. I was recording the station from where I was growing up, in Baltimore.

What tapes to you have from Buffalo, where I’m from? I love old radio audio and airchecks. I think

Working in bflo radio myself, Jeff Kaye was a regular acquaintance of mine... he was an unparalleled radio production and programming genius, and before cancer took it away, had the greatest voice combined with a knowledge of how to use it.

I got to talk with him over the phone in 2005 regarding his role in securing the early-May ‘69 Glyn Johns’ “Get Back” mix for KBW that September just a few days before WBCN in Boston aired the late-Jan. ‘69 mix.

I had known of him from his time at WBZ. Then found him at KBW in March ‘66. My focus was with WBZ, but I’d catch him whenever I could. I have too little of his work, but I liked him a lot.

This is Jefferson and me in 2005. I helped induct him into the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Fame. (I’m going to brag with the great Donz for the one chance I get.)pic.twitter.com/Oz3QPhvQcN
