MacPro update: the eBay version arrived today, 4 days early. Disconnected and untangled all external drives to make room for both machines side by side. Tested the new; ok. Then swapped the internal drives from the old to the new. Success!pic.twitter.com/vN0d96Qrew

I have, on other machines. For this one, compatibility and familiarity. Final Cut Pro X can't read FCP 6 files, and I refuse to get trapped into Adobe CC's subscription scam. CS4 works just fine for my purposes.
