Doesn't sound good. Unplug for 30 seconds and then try again. Disconnect all peripherals. But it may be very bad.

Tried all that. I found one tip: wait 12-24 hours, then plug in and power up. Will try that. Not clear why it was working fine, then voluntarily shut down but then trouble.

Didn’t those macs have a power management reset button?

Just googled it. Seems it’s just unplug power chord for 15 seconds, then plug in and turn power on. First thing I did. No evident fan, which supports power supply failure.

Sounds like the power supply. Maybe also an opportunity to crowdfund a new Mac. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would not hesitate to donate to the cause and I number myself among them.
