I appreciate your time listening to it. I think you've at least established that it's not a cover. I'm leaning more and more that it's Hiram's.
On second thought, maybe not. The band played the song when Steve Khan subbed for Hiram on March 8, 1982. Seems unlikely it'd be played w/o Hiram (analogous to "The Gimp" - played only when Hiram was there). As always, just speculation.
