  2. I can handle a fair amount of complexity, but doing two doodle polls covering the same time periods...... how do you track multiple doodle poll _theoretical_ time commitments to avoid doodle-doodle conflicts and doodle-other event conflicts?

I agree with this take. The editor's job is to assess interest and a paper should not be sent out to review if the interest level in the conclusions isn't sufficient. The reviewers should be asked to assess soundness.

  4. There's this broke critique of a major hypertension study (of blood pressure goals) that keeps getting brought up by a couple of people on twitter and I can't figure out if they simply don't want to understand...?

Curious if and how folks are incorporating home BP measurements into HEDIS quality reporting. Seems these need to be automatically transmitted to providers but can’t be manually reported by patients.

I have always questioned whether morning surge is predictive for CVD among those who have a high prevalence of hypertension during sleep. The higher the asleep BP the less the morning surge. We examined this question in the Jackson Heart Study.

Email from organiser of event where I am a celeb guest. "Celeb guests need to wear white tie; there is no dress code for their companions". Suggestions please for what I should wear.

  9. Remember the Altman article about analysis of within-arm change from baseline in RCTs, which can hugely inflate type I error? Someone should do a corresponding sim for basic pharmacology studies in mice / rats, with & without randomization

  10. "weary" != "wary" but distinction seems to be nearly gone my impression is that "wary" will simply go away & "weary" will lose its traditional meaning & come to fully replace "wary"

Anscome's Quartet is a clear example of why we should not trust summary statistics without visualizing data. The Datasaurus is a fun way to make the same point. But to really convince people of this important point we need real examples like the one below. Let's get some more!

Strange - we’ve been told as speakers we may not post the name of the well-known conference organizer on social media. 🤔 So I’ll just say that I’m excited to be in Galveston to talk about 🦴 and 🦷 at a conference-that-must-not-be-named.
