Usually when inactive accounts get deleted, YouTubers would see a sharp drop in subscribers rather than it being spread across many days.

I think the drops you get are of the inactive accounts which had joined on roughly that day of a prior year. So I lose batches day after day in March/April as I once had a big subscription search then. So it's a possibility. But I certainly do not rule out foul play by YouTube.
