This is last year's price, doubt 2020's will be super different

1) Sessions 2) Meeting new people 3) THE BOOTHS. Probably one of the big compelling reasons. I've gotten to speak directly to MS Engineers who work on services. Got into a few private previews, gained professional contacts. Networking, son. 4) Seattle is pretty awesome.

1, 2, and a fair chunk of 3 is available on Build Tours / Insider Dev Tours, which are free to attend. This is the main discrepancy that I have in mind. There are many opportunities to learn about what's new and do some networking for a tad less than $2.4K.

Hasn't attendance been declining recently as others have chosen Google due to conflicts and lack of anything interesting coming out of Microsoft?
-
Yeah, according to the wiki page the event used to sell out almost instantly. I remember people straight up making fun of Build 2019 still having tickets available months after the registrations opened.

Microsoft reckons the sessions are worth that price tag
-
Considering that you can watch those sessions online for free...

I used to value actually attending Build but I no longer do simply because I can learn about everything offered at Build, online. I did find value in making contacts but I have been getting the same results here on Twitter.
