    The User Tile also hides within this build, entirely unused. Later builds start to show the username in a vertical strip, then they go horizontal, and eventually the picture is used too. Funny how this early layout is what the design ultimately circled back to.

    The Customize button visible in my re-configured screenshot is actually an unused button present only in this build. Most likely a remnant of porting the desktop background StartPage to a windowed form. What does it do? Well, not much.

    Turns out that the Start menu in builds 2250-2296 is absurdly modular. It can be configured as a series of bitmaps, colored rectangles, and Win32 controls using the Registry. Here's build 2250's menu configured to look more like the desktop StartPage mockups.

    There's also an extra layer of pettiness to this whole opinion of mine because of inconsistent design. Right-clicking a tab shows a themed context menu, but the free area/system menu is not themed.
