I’ll let you in on a dirty secret- At a lot of hospitals there’s no real contact tracing or testing going on for healthcare workers. None. We’re classic Typhoid Marys. We should have surveillance testing for anyone working directly with covid patients.#NurseTwitter #MedTwitter

Surveillance testing sounds like a luxury. I’d be happy with testing for those with a known workplace exposure. But nope. Apparently that’s not a thing.

I have worried about this specifically since the beginning of the pandemic with the general lack of testing and contact tracing.

Oh and the constant reusing of PPE designed for single use...is a threat to healthcare professionals and their patients. #getusppe @meganranney

The amount of times I’ve found out a week or so later that my patients had TB or bacterial meningitis from other co workers in passing and not from occupational health is insane

I’ve thought about this more times than I can count. Especially with staff that comes/goes from different non-covid areas

That's really worrisome. I'm glad my facility does do pretty significant contact tracing with log sheets and follow up for every staff member who enters a covid+ patient's room. Still... once the infection has already occurred and spread...😔https://abc7news.com/san-francisco-coronavirus-cases-ucsf-covid-patients-medical-center/7424030/ …
