YAY! @YouTube is making it EVEN HARDER for smaller YouTubers to make any money! I'm so happy! and by happy, I MEAN I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HURRY UP AND CREATE A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE ALREADY.

It's so easy for them to say that a channel that can't hit that level shouldn't be considered for monetization, but in reality it's not exactly easy for someone to hit those numbers, even with good content.

It's not enough to create good content anymore. Nowadays, you have to make good content + know how to market said content + have friends who are willing to share your content, and if you don't have all three then SCREEWWWW YOU, BUDDY.

I fully understand ya; I’m also experiencing these growing pains with @StoryBakeHQ. You can’t get search result priority unless you’re monetized, and you can’t get monetized without 10k views, and you can’t get those views unless people can find your content or you get lucky.

Yeah. It's not fun. I haven't made any money yet doing this, and I'm okay with that, but you're right — when they tie people finding your content to monetization, they are sending a strong message that small YouTubers can go ____ themselves.

I also haven’t made any money yet. I’ve been running giveaways (which you should totally enter and maybe win!), but those are all out of pocket just to grow the channel.

I’ve also been told that posting videos on various subreddits can get you some extra views, but I haven’t tried it yet.
