I've just posted the first "How I'd grow it" case study!
Disclaimer:
- I had to stay within 750 words
- I didn’t ask questions to the founder
- It’s just my personal opinion
Here it is. Make sure to follow @zerotomarketing to see the next ones

In bed with the flu trying to write the first case study... what a great way to spend a Saturday Night
Anyway, I really hope I’ll be able to post it on Tuesday.
I’m trying to stay within 750 words: not too long and not too short. Will need your feedback though!Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
Next time someone asks me how to grow an audience from scratch I’ll just redirect him to this answer by

In the meantime, I’ve created a dedicated Twitter account! I recycled name and logo from another side project I was working on and never launched
I will post the case studies there as threads, so go ahead and follow @zerotomarketing!Prikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
Shower thought:
Maybe I should contact the founder and ask him/her questions before writing anything?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ll do it. It‘s going to be harder but I don’t want to be influenced in any way.Prikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
I also want to be as transparent as I can about my (irrational) fears: - Language. I’m not a native English speaker and writing long form content doesn’t come easy. - Imposter syndrome. Although I think I’m pretty good at marketing there are a lot of people better than me.

So what’s the plan? I think I will do a weekly newsletter!
- It’s low effort (I already know how to do it)
- It’s cheap (there are many freemium tools)
- People are used to it (low friction to join)Prikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
Wow, I wasn’t expecting this! I guess now I have to do it
Just joking, I’m really happy that the idea resonated so much!
This is exactly the motivation I needed to stop being lazy and finally ship something.pic.twitter.com/NgAti5vtNg

Idea: every week I randomly pick one product made by some
@IndieHackers and write 500-1000 words on how I’d grow it

I will definitely give it another try for my upcoming side project. What has been your experience with Twitter Ads? Have you ever got good results?

At one point he explained how promoting tweets like the very one I was reading was being instrumental to drive a lot of cheap signups for his startup. There were no links or CTAs, so people were spontaneously checking his profile... Interesting

It caught my attention and I ended up reading it. And it wasn’t only me: the thread was attracting a lot of likes, comments and shares. He wasn’t trying to sell anything. He was just writing about his efforts to promote a new project, just like he was talking to a friend.

Do you use Twitter Ads? Me neither
I tried it once years ago, got no results and moved on.
But yesterday I saw something that made me want to give it another try.
Instead of the usual crappy ad, this promoted tweet was a very interesting thread with the story of a founder.Prikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
Personally I’d choose a six figure lifestyle business over a successful startup anytime! Can’t wait to listen to the latest

2020: It’s time to put that shiny parked domain to work

Basically: cut the BS and say in 500-1000 words what others say in 5000. Another benefit of this strategy would be content distribution. I could easily syndicate the whole post on social platforms instead of a link nobody would click.

So this year I want to experiment with something different: writing short, to the point, all killer no filler posts. The idea is that if users like them, Google will eventually like them too. I recently saw an example of a short post ranking really well (thanks

Hypothesis: people are tired of 5000 word articles written exclusively to rank on Google, where you have to scroll and scan for half an hour to find the real juice. These articles rank well because they are in-depth and answer searcher’s intent, NOT because of their length.

What saddens me the most is that smart people like him could really use their skills to help making the world a better place.https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/disinformation-for-hire-black-pr-firms …

Apparently a new wave of PR firms that deliver online manipulation and fake news is on the rise. “Customers have money, and I don’t care what they buy”. What a horrible human being.pic.twitter.com/jCa5WP5saL
