We will look back in history on this crisis.I hope all politicians and heads of departments on all levels of government can hold their head high when asked what did they do?Every death is on their shoulders, if they want to change it, then start acting! People before compromise!

People are too smart to fall for your failed War on Drug nonsense again.

The war on drugs is lost. But you ought to know that there are solutions to the drug crises in big cities. These people don’t have to die. We can save them. The 700 who died from ODs last year did not have to die either. Or the 550 this year so far. But we must change.

Agreed! In order to even start to save people we need honesty and total transparency. Something we have seen very little of. Time to admit to failures and explore all the different options that work. Right now it looks like they have no plan and the public has lost trust.

No, the public has lost trust bc you're ignoring solutions that are actually proven in favor of the same old failed policies. It's amazing how many countries are actually starting to figure out how to prevent ODs and American politicians just can't drop the blinders.

Swen, I agree we have lost trust, seeing the suffering, humanitarian crisis and inequalities. I am a regular citizen not a politician. How is this my fault? My conclusion after one year as a delegate, we the public have to demand change! Activism must activate political will!

The plan was to let out non-violent criminals, focus on the violent ones, and use diversionary and alternative justice techniques to reduce violence. Then COVID came along and everything went to shit. What little evidence we do have shows that the DAs techniques are working.

Violent crime is down and the number of people incarcerated is down as well. Boudin is doing exactly what the people of San Francisco sent him to that office to do.

However, San Francisco’s crime rates over the last several decades do show a few definitive trends in the city. For one, it has consistently high property crime rates relative to other cities in California. Secondly, violent crime has declined steadily since the 1990s.
