I bet that nonprofit and others are still paying Chesa, which is why he doesn't care about the actual citizens of SF

Anyone who has lived here more than a couple of years knows crime has been tending down for 30 years.

Non violent crime is up, especially burglaries and auto theft. It’s not a rose garden, COVID has been bad for all American cities.

I am an armed Veteran with a pitbull rescue mutt at my house. If someone breaks into my house they will have a surprise waiting for them.

@the_watcher, appreciate your spirit of self defense. Not a gun owner myself, but went shooting for the first time not too long ago. A couple of things I want to address from your tweets: - Personally, I'm not too interested in the 60's. 70's, or even up to the early 00s. /11 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

- The world was a lot worse on almost every metric, worldwide, the real miracle is how far we have come as a society. - Im interested in how crime rates change from one year to another, as its very easy to get used to life getting better, and much worse when it goes the other way

- Considering the majority of these victims of violent crime are underserved and/or poc, I would think that any progressive would be sensitive to the a negative change, and don't understand talking about Dan White in this thread? Why? /3 (missed 2)

- additionally, the pivot to your own protection methods? Aren't we trying to figure out to make people's lives better here? You're arguing crime is down and/or not a big deal, I think its more complex/alarming than that. - The general populace of SF and esp tourism are down /4

- Seems relevant when we discuss data of total events that less people and less tourists will change the numerator. - Valencia IS a diff universe than it was when I started partying there in '09. Don't think its better in the last year and half (tho I love when it closes to cars)

The crowd here likes to claim that the DA is the main driver behind these changes. I believe it is mostly COVID related. I am skeptical of anecdotes and prefer data. The data I have seen shows a modest decline in violent crime, a moderate increase in property crime.

Anecdotes vs data - 100% agreed w you! But its also ok to be suspicious of data, and hope we get better data. the story is not over here. And speaking of data, how many crimes did SF prosecute in the last 1.5yr vs Alameda? Seems like its probably a relevant data point

My thread skills are terrible btw. Life, and the esp the TL were very bad before Chesa. But he is a person who's entire being, from his parents, to his book, to his current statements, reflect a world view that IMO has very very little little positive results to show for itself
