You should look into my pinned tweet. It’s easily verifiable. In fact, it’s more easily verifiable than the medium article you are trusting that quote Bazelon, who works with Chesa. And anytime Paul likes something, you know you’re on the wrong side of it.

Quotes*. In fact, I think the article is like 90% Bazelon quotes. You can be ride or die Chesa, but at the moment his supporters are grasping at straws.

Fair enough, you aren't the one claiming that crime is generally increasing in San Francisco. You do try to question the validity of the FBI UCR reports, which are really the gold standard of crime reporting in the US. The government makes decisions around funding based on them.

If you don't like the facts presented by the SFPD and FBI then you need to show ones that you think are more accurate and explain why you think so.

The fact that crime was higher 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 years ago is really indisputable, though many try to make the claim that crime is higher today. It is probably a well-known cognitive bias, reinforced by too much time on Nextdoor, Citizen App and Twitter.

Homicide and violent crime has increased. Gun violence has increased. Theft has increased. Those are supported by the stats you’re so focused on. George and Chesa have decriminalized a lot of crimes too, which play into other areas where crime has allegedly “decreased.”

Homicide has been on a 50 year decline. You refuse to acknowledge that fact, even though I have presented overwhelming evidence of it. Homicide has increased slightly this last 18 months from a record low in 2019. It is still lower than 5 years ago.

Violent crime shows a similar trajectory, according to the SFPD website. Violent crime overall is down this year, according to the same source.

More to the point, gun violence and homicide is up nationwide. It is up less in San Francisco than the rest of the country. I don't think Boudin should get credit for that, but by your reasoning he should!
