Can anyone point to a specific bit of Jewish lore regarding the "kill giants and wrestle angels" bit? Because ever since I saw the movie I've wanted to know what that's referencing.

Could be multiple things, really - I'm not an expert on what German Jewish folktales would've been common in the day; but the older the versions/languages of Bereshit (Genesis) are full of giants and beasts beyond just Goliath...
