Jason, especially after PART 6, is arguably not even a living being - he's basically a rage-golem.

And I know a lot of people's headcanon for 2-4/5 is that he's being manipulated by his mother's ghost either literally or figuratively, which... okay, it tracks.

I never watched any of the Latter Day Taxas Chainsaw Massacrees, but I felt like the Trailers were trying to protray him as a sympathetic figure? (Also I do know there was a comic where Jason and Leatherface made friends before fighting)

You left out Halloween and Michael Meyers who also is pretty much on auto pilot

Michael is a little too obsessed with his family to be easily reinvented as a dark anti hero imho

They almost went that path in Freddy vs. Jason. One of the early scripts had him doing some weird stuff as the doofy silent anti-hero working with the protagonists.

At their core the Jason movies are just about sex abstinence , water safety and personal responsibility. He was essentially a stand in for Ronald Reagan

I think Jason is a lot crueler than Leatherface TBH. I don't think that Chainsaw 3D movie was so off the mark as people think centering him as more sympathetic. Alive-Jason always seemed pretty into it

He doesn’t know it, but he does murder a pregnant woman in 3.
