Goodness me that's my neighborhood! Lived in Columbia Heights for 10+ years. Still have my house there with the hope of moving back someday. It has its quirks and some rough patches, but I can attest to the fact that it is a wonderful neighborhood.

If you are 2+ blocks from the DCUSA/Target complex, it can be a charming area. That said, DC in general is not itself right now. People & businesses are taking CV19 seriously. Here are a few more you might be interested in. The warf - cool restaurants, nice vibe, close to the trails. Capitol Hill - nice neighborhood feelings, close by the capital, union sta. DuPont circle - this is like the center of DC. Can bike or scooter to almost anywhere under 15

DuPont is dead. The Wharf is cool but once it gets cold it’s going to be dead. Capitol I like, but slower vibe.

It's ok, a little sketchy the farther north you go. Red Derby is a good dive bar there and Thip Kao is a cool Laos restaurant. The best nightlife is on U Street and Shaw. Keep in mind under quarantine DC is still pretty shut down and you may see protests.
