Snowflake's 158% net retention rate at $532M revenue run-rate and $171k revenue per customer is extraordinary. Twilio had a similarly high net retention rate at that revenue scale, but had $2k revenue per customer. Cloud really does change the dynamics of software businesses.

This is regarding the entire set of public enterprise software companies, many of them sell software "on-premise" in additional to offering a managed service. Snowflake is a cloud only platform-as-a-service regardless of customer size.

Agreed that cloud/PaaS > on prem. I believe that it is easier to scale and achieve a higher revenue rate. However, does “on-prem” v. cloud/PaaS affect net retention rates?
