The Thiel Fellowship gives $100k to 25 kids a year to drop out of college and start a company. This morning a Thiel Fellowshow recipient (now 25 years old) just sold a self-driving car startup he started with his $100k for $3.4 billion at age 18. Hell yeah.

And the many who end up with nothing, and now have to get some kind of job in order to finish their degree (if that's still a possibility)? You beg the question by assuming that most who drop out and start business are successful. That is an untoward assumption.

That guy with the silly diploma makes more money, has more upward mobility and is the client of the small business guy. Also the company he works for keeps the little guy in business. So no, diplomas aren’t silly.
