Sprinting, like 50 meter to 400 meter interval workouts 3 times a week, seems like it’s easily the most efficient and well rounded exercise for longevity and looking good. Why don’t more people do it?

There’s a few reasons this style of training is suboptimal for overall health and longevity. But, it’s definitely better than most styles of training people pursue.

I think if you train hard it can hurt. But if you train easier and train to sprint healthy like hip mobility stuff, stretching, explosive drills, plyos), it’s a winning workout.

What about swimming instead of sprinting? Any suggestions for intervals, breaks, etc?

Yea. That’s awesome. Coming by a pool is tough though. And it takes longer

It tore up my muscles, joints and tendons over time! I love it but my body wasn’t built to keep doing it into my 30s

Go easier! And less volume. You trained at an elite level. But 10x100m at 14 seconds in grass with push ups and squats in between - that’d hurt you you think?

Sprints are awesome. One better, hill sprints improve cardio & strength. Unfortunately, a lot of people simply arent in good enough shape to run full speed. Walk → hike → walk/jog → run → sprints → hill sprints Throw in bodyweight moves & a kettlebell, and you’re set.

I was on my HS track team and had a wonderful coach. Everyone, strength guys as well as long and short distance people did this regularly. And did it on grass to protect your knees. We rarely did anything on asphalt. I sucked at track but I learned a lot.
